Updated January 8: Ahead of the Season 4 launch, another NBA 2K24 update has arrived with a batch of bug fixes. However, some players may be more worried about the passing move that just got nerfed. 

NBA 2K24 Update Patch Notes (January 8) - Season 4

Now that the new year is rolling, NBA 2K24 Season 4 is getting ready to arrive and that signals another update. The latest NBA 2K24 Patch Notes have already been revealed, and here's everything that's getting changed in the Season 4 update:

GENERAL

• The New York Knicks PA announcer will now make calls for the home team with the proper intensity
• The following players have had general likeness updates or adjustments made:
  • Chet Holmgren
  • Christie Sides (new player scan)
  • Victor Wembanyama (default hair update)
  • Han Xu (new player scan)

GAMEPLAY

• Reduced the effectiveness of the "Cut to Basket Pass"

MyTEAM

• Fixed an issue that prevented some Evolved or shoe/badge boosted Player Cards from receiving those boosts in Triple Threat Online: Co-Op games
• The Triple Threat Online: Co-Op score overlay will no longer swap scores at the end of a game
• Adjustments have been made to the audio for crowd reactions in Triple Threat modes
• When using the Exchange from the Duplicates or My Collection menu, a delay has been added when using the “Short Press and Hold” setting to avoid accidental exchanges
• Addressed a conflict between Coach Boosts and Dynamic Duos in certain gameplay situations
• Added support for additional card types like Coach Cards as Collection Rewards in the Player Market

NBA 2K24 Update Makes Shooting Harder (December 7)

 Less than one week after the last hotfix changed NBA 2K24 shooting difficulty, yet another has arrived. According to the official patch notes revealed by 2K:

• "Tomorrow's NBA 2K24 update on PS5 & Xbox Series X|S will reduce the shooting make window size for difficult shots and contested shots."

Past clarifying that this update won't receive an installation and is done by just returning to the main menu on NBA 2K24, no other details were given. Despite early cries that shooting had not been changed and players just needed to practice, it seems even 2K can't decide what to do with shooting difficulty.

NBA 2K24 Update Changes Shooting (December 1)

With the launch of Season 3 arriving, 2K has dropped details about another quick NBA 2K24 update. They'd only just revealed tons of changes for Season 3 including likeness updates, which we have more details on below.

However, just a few days later we've gotten a set of shooting changes and tuning adjustments. Here's everything changed in the latest update per the NBA 2K24 patch notes:

• Increased the shooting make window size on Hall of Fame difficulty and in competitive multiplayer modes when the Shot Meter is turned off.
• Reduced the shooting make window size for heavily contested shots on Hall of Fame difficulty and in competitive multiplayer modes.
• Reduced defensive impact of late closeouts.
• Reduced impact of Takeover boost.
• Reduced on-ball steal success.

You won't actually have to do a full download and installation for this update. Just return to the main menu in NBA 2K24 to let the update take effect. If you're unsure whether or not it has completed, try quitting and restarting the game entirely then waiting a few minutes once you get to the main menu.

NBA 2K24 Patch Notes (November 27) - Season 3

Here are the details for the upcoming NBA 2K24 patch update, arriving in anticipation of Season 3, which starts in December.

New Gen Changes (PS5, Xbox Series X)

GENERAL

• Preparations for NBA 2K24 Season 3, launching on Friday, December 1st, at 8AM PT/11AM ET/4PM BST. Stay tuned for what we have in store!

• Spaces are now allowed in on-court text when customizing an arena
• The logo on the shorts for the Utah Jazz home, away, and secondary uniforms has been adjusted for accuracy

GAMEPLAY

• Fixed an issue that was causing inadvertent basket interference violations when dunking
• Reduced the frequency of lost ball fumbles when ball handlers collide with defenders
• Tweaked "Bad Block Attempt" teammate grade logic
• Increased the defensive movement speed gap relating to Lateral Quickness
• Fixed a rare issue that was causing some layups to "block themselves" which led to missed easy layup attempts
• Defensive reactions (including anklebreakers) will no longer be played on simple dribble stop animations

• Addressed an issue that could cause Badges to drop to Bronze level under certain conditions in City, Pro-Am, and REC games

GAMEPLAY

• Standing Meter Dunks will now properly use the Standing Dunk rating instead of Driving Dunk to determine the green window size
• Dunk meter logic has been updated to make the window size better reflect dunk difficulty
• Fixed an issue in the on-ball steal system that forced the ball to yo-yo back to the previous ball hand midway through a crossover or behind back move
• Improved foot planting to reduce unwanted out of bounds violations when shooting near the sidelines
• When blockers jump early and land on ball handlers or shooters, fouls will now be called 100% of the time
• Better shot coverage detection for OPEN vs. WIDE OPEN
• Slight buff to close shots, wide open jump shots, and Limitless Range badge
• Fixed an exploit that allowed players to double dribble by alley-oop/fake passing to no one in 1v1 games
• Removed pass interceptions on Right Stick UP as it was being abused for easy steals with no risk
• Updated Adrenaline system to account for successfully stopping post moves and no longer consume boosts when driving directly toward the rim

NBA 2K24 Update 1.3 Patch Notes (New Gen) - 25 September 2023

Here are the details for today's NBA 2K24 next-gen patch update for PS5 & Xbox Series X|S.

Note: This update will be released soon, but is not available yet at the time of this post

Developer Note: We are continuing to work towards resolving the most user-impacting issues being reported. The team is currently working on an all-encompassing patch that will be releasing in early-mid October. That patch will contain fixes and improvements spanning the entire game, including a number of community-reported items that required a longer internal testing runway.

GAMEPLAY

• Tightened up perimeter defensive coverage checks to reduce "ghost contests"
• Increased the make window size of open meter dunks

CITY/PRO-AM/REC/THEATER

• A number of fixes to overall game stability while in the City have been made to improve user experience
• Resolved an issue at the end of Rec games that would send the user to the game’s main menu following a black screen
• Functionality and stability improvements have been made to the Social Menu as we work to provide a more seamless experience

• The RISE-specific Heat Check Booster has been adjusted to activate after 3 made shots in a row rather than 5

NBA 2K24 Update 1.2 Patch Notes (Current Gen) - 20 September 2023

Here are the details for today's NBA 2K24 current-gen patch update for PS4, XB1, Nintendo Switch and Steam.

MyCAREER / QUESTS / RIVALS

• On Court accessories should now properly display in Away games in MyCAREER.
• Fixed an issue where players would receive an error code when attempting to complete quests in the "Tour De Force" quest line.  Players should now be able to receive the rewards correctly.
• The Celtics Hardwood banner rewarded from the '64-'65 Boston Celtics Rivals match will now display correctly.
• Fixed an issue where quest bars would incorrectly show the same progress when scrolling through the quest menu.

MyTEAM

• Fixed a crash that could occur when transitioning from the Compare Player screen to flipping the coach card.
• Player images should now be seen on the Clutch Time and the Clutch Time Online home screens after winning a Clutch Time Online game.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD

• Adjusted the Season XP post-game reward to properly adjust with Teammate Grade.
• Fixed a rare issue where a player could become stuck in 1v1 Ante-Up games.
• Fixed a rare crash that could occur when exiting the MyTEAM theater in the Galleria.
• Several improvements in players' appearances in the Neighborhood when viewed at a distance.

CLOTHING

• Blazers should now appear when equipped.
• Resolved an issue where multiple NBA and WNBA jerseys would appear as brown shirts when viewed/equipped.
• Fixed an issue that could cause a player's torso to appear invisible when equipping a short-sleeved compression shirt with a jacket.
• Fixed an issue where undershirts could appear as brown shirts to other players.
• The waist and neck submenus now display correctly in the clothing menu.

MAMBA MOMENTS

• Resolved an issue where the introduction overlay would not disappear if the user paused the game during the introduction.

NBA 2K24 Update 1.2 Patch Notes (New Gen) - 14 September 2023

• Adjusted the Minimizer quest so it is easier for all player types to complete
• Fixed a rare issue that could cause a hang when loading into a MyCAREER save
• Addressed an issue that could prevent advancement to the second NBA season • Resolved a hang when heading to the arena floor before NBA games
• Michael Jordan can no longer be passed on the GOAT tier list before winning your 7th championship
• Users can no longer apply the same Floor Setter to more than one badge.

MyTEAM

• Resolved user-reported issues with games played after playing Triple Threat Online: Co-Op games
• Lowered the difficulty of Triple Threat Online: Co-Op games against the CPU to Pro
• Added the ability to select a lineup before entering Triple Threat Online: Co-Op

MyNBA

• Resolved a hang that could occur in the Trade Finder menu when exiting and re-entering under certain conditions
• Fixed an issue that could cause the Warriors to get rebranded incorrectly going into future seasons in MyNBA
