Boise's new City Center Plaza has not only made it easier for people to travel and work downtown.

It's also given the city more meeting space for big events.

"All of this new space will enable to be able to accommodate larger national conventions, regional meetings (and) multiple local events at the same time," said Mary Michael Rodgers, spokeswoman for the Boise Centre. "We hope to almost double the amount of conventions that we do each year by year 2023."

Boise state's computer science department recently moved into the Clearwater Analytics building and administrators say having a new "tech" oriented space has increased their enrollment. In 2012,. there were just under 400 undergraduate students pursuing a computer science degree. This year, they have nearly 700.

"The new research spaces are probable the coolest part," said Keela Cooper, administrative assistant for Boise State. "We are in the lab here and we've got this really great visualization center. They have a lot more space now for these multi-screen displays and they can just do so much more than they were able to do in the former space."

Boise's new underground bus terminal, The Main Street Station, is also ready for business. Folks will start to see buses rolling out of the station on Monday. Construction workers are still finishing up the plaza itself, so you'll still see some fences around the area, but they've created many avenues so that it's easier to get to events being held at the Boise Centre and Century link Arena.
